GETTING TO VAIMOANA SEASIDE LODGE

Vaimoana is located on the big island of Savaii! Getting to Vaimoana from the main island of Upolu requires a three-step journey.

Step 1: A land transfer on Upolu Island to the Mulifanua Wharf.

Step 2: A 1 hour ferry trip to Savaii Island.

Step 3: A 1.5 hour land transfer from the ferry terminal to our place.

If you are arriving from Faleolo International Airport (which is located on Upolu Island), then you will need to take a short taxi ride (5 minutes) to the Mulifanua Wharf, where you can purchase your ferry tickets.

The ferry transfer with Samoa Shipping Company takes aproximately one hour. We recommend that you travel on the MV Lady Samoa III if possible, as it's a larger boat, has an airconditioned cabin, comfortable seating, basic food service and better toilet facilities.

Once you arrive on the big island of Savaii, it is a 1.5 hour drive to Vaimoana. There are three ways to get to us.

1. Prebook a taxi transfer with us. We highly recommend that you choose this option, as you will have a dedicated driver waiting for you at the wharf. No waiting, no haggling, no drama! Please contact bookings@vaiamoanaseasidelodge.com for more information

2. Hire a Rental Vehicle. This can be done either from Upolu Island (where you can arrange with Samoa Shipping to bring the vehicle across on the ferry), or from Savaii Isaland, where there are a few hire car companies in Salelologa township. 3. Take a local bus. The local busses are cheapest option for travel to Vaimoana. The bus with the sign "ITU ASAU" departs the ferry terminal after every ferry. It is a cheap option, but note that local busses do not run on a schedule or have airconditioning, they make freequent stops and are often full to capacity.
